Hi I'm Shannon and I'm a book-a-holic. OK so I know it is not a word but its so true. I love reading and I have a serious book buying/borrowing problem. I read everyday and there is no such thing as no time to read for me, but I always feel like there is not enough time to read.

I’ve decided to start a little Tumblr called Read With Me. It will be updates of the book(s) I am currently reading with full on spoiler reactions to the pages as I read them and perhaps a review at the end. We’ll see how this goes.  Read With Me

Rebel Heir - Vi Keeland

Rush Duet , Book 1

I Picked Up This Book Because: #Barbsbookopoly roll 3. “?” Which means members of the group pick for me but I picked for myself

The Characters:

Gia Mirabelli:
Rush:

The Story:

I loved the chemistry between Gia and Rush. I like that Rush tried to fight it but we all knew he wasn’t going to make it. This was an entertaining way to spend a few hours. Oh and the ending! I’m so glad I had the second book on deck.

Cloak & Silence
Cloak & Silence - Sherrilyn Kenyon

The League: Nemesis Rising , Book 5.5

I Picked Up This Book Because: #Barbsbookopoly roll 2. “A book set in space”

The Characters:

Maris Sulle:
Ture Xans:

The Story:

I’m ashamed to say I didn’t retain much about this book. Ture (I think) was kidnapped with Nikerian’s mate (maybe) and Maris was involved in the rescue. They take a liking to each other. There is a lot of painful past and Maris has a current price on his head that causes a problem. This wasn’t a bad book. I just think I wasn’t in the headspace for it. I also think I should have read the book as the narrator's super soothing (and not distinct between characters) voice had me zoning out but I felt no need to go back on minutes missed.

This is a series I absolutely loved in the beginning and it pains me that I’ve grown apart from it. The library has the next book. Maybe I’ll give it a try soon to see if I’ve completely lost that loving feeling. Overall I was just kind of underwhelmed.

A Virgin River Christmas
A Virgin River Christmas - Robyn Carr

Virgin River, Book 4

I Picked Up This Book Because: #Barbsbookopoly roll 1.

The Characters:

Marcie Sullivan:
Ian Buchanan:
Mel, Jack, Preacher, Paige, Doc, Hope

The Story:

Marcie’s husband has passed away after a long recovery from a bombing in Iraq. She sets out looking for the man who rescued him to find some closure with a friend who has recused himself from society. Ian is by all accounts a great friend and a great C.O. but comes home from his tour with more than a few mental scars.

Ian and Marcie save each other in different ways. I quite enjoyed their story and I enjoyed another visit to Virgin River, even if this mostly takes place on the outskirts.

Okay I lied. Stephanie should not be a detective but she does have good instincts… sometimes. This was an enjoyable addition to the world of Stephanie Plum. I so enjoy this series.

An Elderly Lady is Up to No Good
I Picked Up This Book Because: #BlameItOnLitsy.

The Story:

This book is a collection of short stories revolving around Maude. Maude is an eighty something spitfire who is not about to put up with any guff. In fact if you cross her the wrong way you may just expire. She is calculated, quick witted and a bit scary.

A Sick Life: TLC ‘n Me: Stories from On and Off the Stage

*I can't link to the book but here is the review anyway.*

I Picked Up This Book Because: I’m a fan of the band.

The Story:

A very “meh” book for me. It would probably have been better read off the page instead of an audiobook as I just didn’t like the narration. Content wise this book was interesting. We learn of course about T-Boz’s early years and how the band came together. We heard a lot about their struggles with their management and label. We also learn about disputes within the band and how they grew apart at times. On thing that struck me as wrong during the book is there is a lot, and I mean a LOT, of talk about things between T-Boz and Lisa “Left Eye” and it was off putting for me partly because Lisa isn’t here to talk about her side of the story but also there was very little conversation about Chilli. When she is mentioned it’s almost as an afterthought. I guess T-Boz didn’t want to put works into Chilli’s mouth but it felt very lopsided. The writing felt very amateur. There was a lot of I, I, I and me me me and I know it’s a memoir but I read a lot of memoirs and I do not often feel like this. I mean it’s your book about you, everything doesn’t have to start with I did this, I did that, I’m this way. I did really like how open she was about her illness. I have an autoimmune disease myself and I appreciate some of the frustrations she expressed her illness cause and a lot of the motivation she expressed with not letting it hold her back .

So yeah, this was very up and down for me.

P. S. I Still Love You
P.S. I Still Love You - Jenny Han

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, Book 2

I Picked Up This Book Because: Continue the series.

The Characters:

Lara Jean Covey:
Peter Kavinsky:
Margo Covey, Kitty Covey, John Ambrose McClaren, Peter’s ex-girlfriend I can’t remember her name right now

The Story:

Ah Lara Jean. Navigating through adolescence and first relationships. With a sex scandal, boyfriend troubles, ex-girlfriend troubles and a new love interest on the scene there is certainly a lot to navigate. She does the best she can and there is a lot of teen angst. Maybe too much for my mood at the moment but that’s just the mood I’m in right now. Overall this is well written, interesting and entertaining.

I Picked Up This Book Because: Continue the series

The Characters:

Stephanie Plum:
Joe Morelli:
Carlos “Ranger” Manoso:
Grandma Mazur, Lula, Connie, Tank,

The Story:

I don’t think I have anything new to say about this series. Stephanie is Stephanie. I don’t know another way to describe her… or Lula or Grandma. I just smile and laugh and gasp and moon. It's just a really great series. I kinda hope it continues forever.

My Bluegrass Baby
My Bluegrass Baby - Molly Harper, Amanda Ronconi

Bluegrass, Book 1

I Picked Up This Book Because: I’m a fan of the author

The Characters:

Sadie Hutchins:
Joshua Vaughn:

The Story:

An enemies to lovers tale that took quite some time to grow on me. Sadie and Josh are fine characters but I never really felt a connection to them. I did eventually get fully on board with this couple. I especially enjoyed the scene with them locked in the supply closet.

Overall nothing wowed me about this story but it wasn’t the worst way to spend a few hours. I won’t be continuing the series due to availability and lack of interest.

Jack, Mel, Preacher, Paige, The rest of the guys in Mike and Jack’s old unit

The Story:

I enjoy this series more and more with each book. I love how we never lose the original characters while adding to the VR Family. A lot of people seem to find this town in a time of tragedy in their life. VR is a place of healing… and fertility. LOL

Girl Gone Viral
Girl Gone Viral - Alisha Rai

Modern Love, Book 2

I Picked Up This Book Because: Continue the series

The Characters:

Katrina King:
Jas Singh:

The Story:

How does Ms Rai do it? How does she create these characters that completely suck me in and don’t let go? Is there somewhere I can sign up for a Jas of my own? He’s so loving and cares so much about Katrina. This book gave me all the warm and fuzzy feels with a side of righteous anger. We are certainly living in a different time and I can’t say I would have handled the #cafebae scandal with half the grace that Katrina did.
