Hi I'm Shannon and I'm a book-a-holic. OK so I know it is not a word but its so true. I love reading and I have a serious book buying/borrowing problem. I read everyday and there is no such thing as no time to read for me, but I always feel like there is not enough time to read.

I’ve decided to start a little Tumblr called Read With Me. It will be updates of the book(s) I am currently reading with full on spoiler reactions to the pages as I read them and perhaps a review at the end. We’ll see how this goes.  Read With Me

The Player and the Pixie
The Player and the Pixie (Rugby Book 2) - L.H. Cosway, Penny Reid
Rugby, Book 2

I Picked Up This Book Because: Next in the series.

The Characters:

Lucy Fitzpatrick: Little sister with the patience of a saint
Sean Cassidy: World renowned player (both on and off the field) and arsehole.

The Story:

Overall I enjoyed Sean and Lucy’s story. I’m not quite sure I could do for any man what she does for Sean so good on her. I carry a grudge with Sean from book one and in the end I won’t say I like him but I understand him and I love him with Lucy. He treats her like a queen.

I had a rough time with the beginning of this book but sticking it out was totally worth it. I like where their story is going and I hope to see more of it in the future.

Into the Fire
Into the Fire: A Night Prince Novel (Night Prince series, Book 4) - Jeaniene Frost

 Night Prince, Book 4

I Picked Up This Book Because: Finale to a series I love.

The Characters:

Vlad Tepesh:
Leila:

The Story:

I think I did too much too fast. By the end I was burnt out, no pun intended, on the action. Battle after battle after struggle after battle. I feel like Vlad and Leila rarely got to be themselves, just be a loving couple.

I was left with the impression that we could have a spinoff starring Gretchen but it’s just an inkling.

Overall the book was good. I was fully committed to listening as usual with Ms Frost behind the keyboard and Ms Gilbert behind the microphone.

The Hooker and the Hermit
The Hooker and the Hermit - Penny Reid, Luci Cosway

Rugby, Book 1

I Picked Up This Book Because: Yet another tantalizing title that reeled me in. Plus I like Penny Reid’s writing

The Characters:

Annie Catrel:
Ronan Fitzpatrick:

The Story:

Annie and Ronan have palpable heat. I thought Ronan was a bit more than pushy with Annie in the beginning however I saw how his feeling for her grew. He and Annie both are great at showing they love each other even when they can’t say it out loud.

You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life
You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life - Jen Sincero

I Picked Up This Book Because: How could I not with a title like that.

The Story:

This book is the most self helpy book I think I’ve ever listened to. In the past I’ve listened to things that I would define as more inspirational. It is also the most practical book of this nature I’ve listened to. I would really need to get my hands on a print copy because there are definitely some plans in this book I need to sit down and put into action.

Lost & Found Sisters
Lost and Found Sisters - Jill Shalvis

Wildstone, Book 1

I Picked Up This Book Because: I enjoy Jill Shalvis’ writing

The Characters:

Quinn Weller:
Tilly Adamson:

The Story:

After suddenly losing her sister Beth, Quinn is blindsided in learning she is adopted and her birth mother has died and not only left her a house and cafe but a 15 year old sister. Smartypants Tilly is learning to adjust to a life without her mother and with a brand new sister. Life is an adjustment for both women. Scary, fun, amazing and new.

I enjoyed getting to know the new characters in this town. I love Quinn and Mick together. I love how Quinn befriended meme talking, surly Lena. I am excited for what awaits them. This was overall a great start to a series.

Re-Read: I Can't Make This Up: Life Lessons
I Can't Make This Up: Life Lessons - Kevin Hart, Neil Strauss

Re-Read:
August 18 - August 28

I gotta say I enjoyed this the second time almost as much as the first. Kevn’s vocal dramatization of the words I was already familiar with did not disappoint. The consummate funny man brought so much energy and character to his words of wisdom. It was great to revisit his lessons. Contemplate again the great points he has made and reevaluate how these lessons apply to my life.

It’s Not Me, It’s You
It's Not Me, It's You - Cathy Yardley, Cecilia Tan, Melissa Blue, Rachel Stuhler
  Geek Actually, Book 1.11

I Picked Up This Book Because: Continuing the series

The Characters:

Aditi Sodhi, Christina Webber, Elli Kelman, Michelle Andrada, Taneesha Adams:

The Story:

Because I didn’t write this when I finished the story and my memory sucks I can’t remember what happened here. I know I’m pleased with the Diego/Taneesha situation and I’m 100% behind Aditi’s decision concerning Michelle. Working with friends can kill a friendship.

System Failure
System Failure (Geek Actually Season 1 Episode 12) - Cecilia Tan, Rachel Stuhler, Melissa Blue, Cathy Yardley

Geek Actually, Book 1.12

I Picked Up This Book Because: Continuing the series

The Characters:

Aditi Sodhi, Christina Webber, Elli Kelman, Michelle Andrada, Taneesha Adams:

The Story:

Wow, Michelle’s story just got embarrassing. I knew nothing good was coming from Elli’s story. She was just being nice and totally took advantage. *insert rage face here* I want to continue to express my lack of support for Christina’s relationship. Aditi and Taneesha weren’t much featured in this installment.

Well, Actually...
Well, Actually… (Geek Actually Season 1 Episode 10) - Rachel Stuhler, Melissa Blue, Cathy Yardley, Cecilia Tan
Geek Actually, Book 1.10

I Picked Up This Book Because: Continuing the series

The Characters:

Aditi Sodhi, Christina Webber, Elli Kelman, Michelle Andrada, Taneesha Adams:

The Story:

I think the world just exploded. Life is a mess all around. I’m still not on board with this relationship of Christina’s though Vivi is proving to have a heart. Taneesha and Diego are definitely off and I can’t say I disagree with her. Michelle is… I don’t even know how she is. I feel so bad for Elli, losing such a kindred spirit is so difficult. I’m sure Aditi is feeling rejected. This is a mess mess mess.

Aces Wild (Geek Actually Season 1 Episode 9) - Cathy Yardley, Cecilia Tan, Rachel Stuhler, Melissa Blue
Geek Actually, Book 1.9

I Picked Up This Book Because: Continue the series

The Characters:

Aditi Sodhi, Christina Webber, Elli Kelman, Michelle Andrada, Taneesha Adams:

The Story:

I just fell in love with Diego. Like book the chapel I want to marry him right now. I’m so very happy for Elli, it’s has to be terrible feeling like something is wrong with you. Christina is in over her head I think. I hope things work out for her but IDK how. Aditi and Michelle weren’t around much in this episode.

A Dox on Both Your Houses
A Dox on Both Your Houses (Geek Actually Season 1 Episode 8) - Cathy Yardley, Cecilia Tan, Rachel Stuhler, Melissa Blue

Geek Actually, Book 1.8

I Picked Up This Book Because:

The Characters:

Aditi Sodhi, Christina Webber, Elli Kelman, Michelle Andrada, Taneesha Adams:

The Story:

I still feel like men are the most disgusting creatures on earth… okay except Diego. I’m liking him… and Druv. Taneesha’s situation is just unimaginable. And that effer Michelle is having to put up with. I’m so proud of her, she played his game. I probably would have cussed him out and lost my job on the spot. Oh and I would have let Gwen have a piece of my mind too. They make me so angry. Who knew one could feel so many emotions in less than 50 pages.

Pussy Bites Back
Pussy Bites Back (Geek Actually Season 1 Episode 7) - Rachel Stuhler, Melissa Blue, Cathy Yardley, Cecilia Tan

Geek Actually, Book 1.7

I Picked Up This Book Because: This title specifically got me interested in the series.

The Characters:

Aditi Sodhi, Christina Webber, Elli Kelman, Michelle Andrada, Taneesha Adams:

The Story:

My takeaway from this book: Men are awful. I know this is not universally true but OMG almost all the men in this episode SUCK! I’m disappointed that I had to skip from 1 to 7 because obviously I missed a lot of information but I can’t get my wallet to give me the okay for spending 1.99 for less than 50 pages. So from what I can tell from where I’m at, Michelle’s husband is a jerk. Taneesha is dealing with the motherload of all of the terrible examples of humans, and Aditi is about to dive into that pool with her.

WTF (That's the book's title not my sentiments)
Geek Actually: WTF (Season 1 Episode 1) - Rachel Stuhler, Melissa Blue, Cecilia Tan, Cathy Yardley
Geek Actually, Book 1.1

I Picked Up This Book Because: The titles in this series intrigued me.

The Characters:

Aditi Sodhi, Christina Webber, Elli Kelman, Michelle Andrada, Taneesha Adams:

The Story:

This seems to be more of an introduction to the ladies than anything else. A peek into their lives to see who they are and what they are about and what is going on. It’s a lot. I’m very curious about Aditi and Michelle. I love Taneesha. And I can’t wait to learn more about Elli and Christina.

The Beast Within: A Tale of Beauty’s Prince
The Beast Within: A Tale of Beauty's Prince - Serena Valentino
Villians, Book 2

I Picked Up This Book Because: Picture it: I’m walking in Barnes and Noble one day on a hunt for anime for my niece, I pass these four beautiful covers on a table. My mind immediately says “YOU NEED TO READ THAT! I don’t know or care what it is it’s pretty and villains, yes all systems go” Then I looked at the back of the book and didn’t like the price. So naturally I look in the library. My library doesn’t carry them. Then I get a 60 day trial to Kindle Unlimited and looky what’s available. I’m all over it. It’s the first thing I get.

The Characters:

The Prince/Beast:
Gaston, Witches, Cogsworth:

The Story:

Unfortunately my WHY was more interesting than this story and that was boring. I DNF’d at 40%. We were very in the beast/princes head for much of this time which I detest. I prefer character to interact much more. The only bit we did get was with Circe (the witch who cursed him) and her 3 witch sisters who were unflattering and confusing.

The Random Thoughts:

DNF so no rating

The Bourbon Kings, Book 3

I Picked Up This Book Because: The conclusion to a delicious trilogy.

The Characters:

The Bradford/Baldwine Family:
Assorted significant others and family friends:

The Story:

So many things happened in this book I’m not sure how to sum it all up. Here’s a random list: (view spoiler) I’m sure there is much more but that’s all I have off the top of my head.

It was all written beautifully and performed masterfully. I laughed out loud. I cried actual tears. I was often in a state of shock. I was late to work a lot because I was sucked into this world. I’m so very sad to see this trilogy end. I want to see what is a head for this troubled family. I want to keep riding their ride.
