I never really bonded with Rosemary. I understood her struggle and I felt for her but even as a character on a page she seemed standoff-ish, like I wasn't supposed to bond with her. And maybe that was Kristine's point in writing her. As with the first book we don't really get to know the hero well. It's Rose's story and Brandon is just a part but they seemed well matched from what I could tell. Jackson has left me with a big old pile of questions and I hope dearly that Ms Wyllys give him his own book in the near future.
It took me a while to heat up to it. But I'm glad I stuck with it because it was fascinating. I never expected it to end the way it did but I know our author gave the story to us as it had to be. There wasn't any other possible outcome, however the road still surprised me.
This book seemed very quotable. There were lines that really stuck with me and caused me to reflect. For my blow by blow reading experience see the link below.
